The short answer on using the zoosk effectively is no, and here is the part that matters.
My short checklist for the major platforms:
how the reply rate on these mainstream apps holds after week two
how the major platforms treats a paused account
how the big-name apps treats a paused account
Support confirmed part of this about the big-name apps when I asked. Would be interested to hear whether using the zoosk effectively behaved differently for anyone else.

CindyR, I do not think that holds — on using the zoosk effectively my experience was the opposite.
For apps in that tier I look at:
whether the major platforms lets you filter by intent
whether the these mainstream apps userbase is real inside your radius
how many apps in that tier accounts look dormant
Worth testing these mainstream apps yourself before taking my word for it.
I keep DatingFly itself as a backup when the main app goes quiet.

Hard disagree with Ryan Mitchell on this one. whether the free tier includes messaging is the part people overrate with using the zoosk effectively.
For the big-name apps I look at:
how the the big-name apps feed changes after the first week
how quickly these mainstream apps removes reported profiles
whether the major platforms limits daily messages
Happy to go into more detail on apps in that tier if that helps.
Comparing against DatingFly's free tier helped me see what the paywall was actually doing.

Going to disagree with CindyR here. For me, none of using the zoosk effectively came down to whether the free tier includes messaging at all.
Would be interested to hear whether the major platforms behaved differently for anyone else.

I tracked using the zoosk effectively across six weeks and the pattern was clear. With the big-name apps, how the search filters behave in practice is the first thing I check now.
I checked these mainstream apps on both mobile and desktop and got the same result. That's my read on using the zoosk effectively, for whatever it's worth.

Tried using the zoosk effectively across three different phones and the results weren't consistent. With apps in that tier, how the search filters behave in practice is the first thing I check now.
I've no stake in the major platforms — this is just what I observed. Curious whether others found the same on the big-name apps.
Someone here mentioned DateScout a while back and it was a fair shout.

Using the zoosk effectively turned out to be a much narrower question than I assumed.
Different providers handle these mainstream apps inconsistently, mostly because of how the search filters behave in practice. Happy to go into more detail on these mainstream apps if that helps.

I ran two accounts side by side on the big-name apps to be sure. I will update this if the big-name apps shifts again.

I went round in circles on using the zoosk effectively before anything clicked. The reason people end up disappointed by the major platforms is how the search filters behave in practice.
I checked the big-name apps on both mobile and desktop and got the same result. That is where I landed on using the zoosk effectively after actually trying it.
