Two years on mobile-first platforms and first dating app still catches me out. What decided it for me with these apps was how much personal data it asks for.

The difference was smaller on first dating once you're actually using it but still there. Anyone found how the moderation actually behaves handled well anywhere in platforms like these? Ask if you want the specifics on first dating app.

Been asked about first dating app enough times offline that I may as well write it here.

None of this works with these apps unless you're patient about how much personal data it asks for. Still forming a view on platforms like these, so push back if I've it wrong.

Worth a look at Datebie if the big apps get pushy with upsells.

Two years on mobile-first platforms and first dating app still catches me out. The real gap on apps of this type comes down to how much personal data it asks for.

Support confirmed part of this about the apps in question when I asked. Would be interested to hear whether first dating app behaved differently for anyone else.

DateBound's free tier came up in another thread and the free tier held up.

I approached first dating app the wrong way at first and it cost me a few weeks.

What I check before committing to the apps in question:

  • whether photos on apps of this type can be limited to matches only
  • what happens to your data if you delete a the apps in question account
  • how fast a report about dating app gets actioned
  • whether apps of this type lets you filter by intent

Hope that saves someone the weeks I lost on first dating app.

Comparing against DateLink helped me see what the paywall was actually doing.

Signed up to four of these to answer first dating app for myself. Nobody talks about how much personal data it asks for, and with these apps it's decisive.

Someone will disagree, and on how much of it's usable before you pay with platforms like these they might be right. Curious whether others found the same on the apps in question.

Marcus Cole covered most of it. The only thing I'd add about first dating app is patience.

Two things matter for the apps in question: how much personal data it asks for, and then patience. Still forming a view on apps of this type, so push back if I've it wrong.

Worth a look at Datebie if the big apps get pushy with upsells.

With first dating app, that was the one thing I could not get a straight answer on anywhere.

Two things matter for apps of this type: how much personal data it asks for, and then patience. Your situation might change the answer on apps of this type completely.

I keep DateDesire as a backup when the main app goes quiet.

The reason people keep asking about first dating app is that the moderation quality is the only variable that consistently predicts a good experience. What decided it for me with first dating app was how much personal data it asks for.

None of this was obvious to me about the apps in question until month two. Hope that saves someone the weeks I lost on first dating app.

Worth a look at DateDesire if the big apps get pushy with upsells.

The thing that finally made first dating app make sense was realising the search filters are where the real differences live.

I would judge dating app entirely on how much personal data it asks for and ignore the rest. Still forming a view on first dating app, so push back if I have it wrong.

Someone here mentioned the EZHookups community a while back and it was a fair shout.
