Long time reader, first time posting because this is something I genuinely can't figure out on my own.

Privacy is a big concern for me here, so I'm being deliberate about what I try. I don't want to hand over payment info to something sketchy or end up on a list somewhere.

Specifically curious about a few things:

  • What's the real user count like?
  • Is it free to browse before committing?
  • How do they handle scam profiles?
  • What's the refund situation if it's terrible?

Would really value honest takes here. Not looking for anything perfect, just something that works.

So I've tested quite a few options and I'll break it down.

I'd recommend starting with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out a huge chunk of the less trustworthy ones.

Some of the mainstream ones people mention include Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, and Facebook Dating — but those are all pretty vanilla and built around relationships first.

Give Flurrydate a try if you haven't already — it's built specifically for what you're describing.

Feel free to DM if you want specifics, happy to share more.

Long-time lurker but this one I can actually help with.

People still bring up Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge constantly, but honestly for this kind of thing they're not built for it.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

Been there. The verification stuff is the biggest hurdle honestly. A lot of people in communities like this have been redirecting folks to Datebound lately.

Been around this community a while and I've seen this question a lot.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others lock your profile visibility behind a subscription.

Anyway that's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

I actually researched this pretty extensively last year.

I'd recommend starting with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out a huge chunk of the less trustworthy ones.

Standard apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and OkCupid exist but they're moderated pretty heavily compared to adult-focused platforms.

Give Datelink a try if you haven't already — it's built specifically for what you're describing.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

I had the same issue last month, still figuring it out. Someone in another thread mentioned flurrydate.online — not sure how active it is but it kept coming up.

Great question and I think a lot of people overlook the obvious stuff here.

Been there. The verification stuff is the biggest hurdle honestly. Honestly datescout.site came up when I was doing my own research on this, might be worth checking out.

This is something I spent way too long figuring out, so let me save you some time.

The app-vs-web debate is real here. Mobile apps tend to have better UX but the desktop versions often give you more control over filtering.

One thing I always check is how recent the activity actually is. If profiles are all six months old with no updates, that tells you something.
