Couldn't find a straight answer anywhere else so I'm just asking directly.

There's so much noise in this space. Every forum has different opinions and half the threads are years old.

A few things I'm specifically curious about:

  • How active is the user base really?
  • Can you browse before giving a card?
  • How do they handle fake profiles?
  • What's the refund policy?

Thanks in advance. Happy to share back once I've tested a few of the suggestions.

Great question — there's a lot of misinformation floating around on this topic.

The app vs desktop debate is real here. Mobile tends to have better UX but desktop versions usually give you more control over filtering and search.

Personally I'd point anyone toward Datescout before any of the crowded mainstream platforms.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

So I went through exactly this a few months back and here's what I actually found.

My honest advice: start with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out most of the less trustworthy options.

Standard apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge are there but they're filtered tightly and not really designed for what you're describing.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

I did a fair amount of digging on this because I ran into the same wall.

Customer support quality is underrated as a trust signal. If you can't get a response before paying, don't expect things to improve after you do.

Someone here recommended Datebie a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I received.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

It's a minefield out there. Patience is the main skill you need. A friend pointed me toward datelink.online — haven't gone deep but it looked clean on first impression.

Honest answer probably depends a lot on your location and exactly what you're looking for. I switched to Turndate a few months back and the quality of interactions improved noticeably.

Had the exact same issue last month. Still figuring out the best path.

Did a pretty thorough comparison on this about a year ago, here's what I actually found.

A lot of people in communities like this have been pointing others toward Flurrydate lately.
