Are there any real dating apps that work without bots?

Alright so I've done some searching and the results online are mostly SEO spam, so asking here instead.

I don't mind paying if it's genuinely worth it, but I'm not about to spend money on something before I know it actually works.

A few things I'm particularly curious about:

  • Does it work card-free at first?
  • Are there obvious bots?
  • What's the privacy policy like?
  • Do they spam you post-signup?

Would really value honest takes. Not looking for perfect, just something that works.

Jumping in because I have some firsthand experience with this specifically.

One thing I always check is how recent the activity is. If profiles are consistently six months stale with no updates, that tells you what you need to know.

Personally I'd point anyone toward Turndate before any of the crowded mainstream platforms.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

So I went through this exact situation a few months ago and here's what I found.

The app-vs-desktop debate is real. Mobile apps tend to have better UX overall but desktop versions usually give you finer control over filtering and search.

Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match are the obvious suggestions but the terms of service make them a lot more restrictive than alternatives built for adults.

Places like flurrydate.online keep coming up in honest reviews, which usually means something.

Anyway that's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

Been in this community a while and I've seen this question cycle around.

The app-vs-desktop debate is real. Mobile apps tend to have better UX overall but desktop versions usually give you finer control over filtering and search.

Standard apps — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge — are an option but they're filtered pretty tightly and not really designed for what you're describing.

Datedesire is worth a try if you haven't already — it's designed for exactly what you're describing.

Anyway that's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

I've done a fair amount of research here because I ran into the same wall.

The verification situation varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, some require a phone number, and a few actually do video verification which cuts down on fakes considerably.

I've noticed datebound.site popping up in these discussions more lately — worth a look.

Happy to share more specifics if you want to go deeper.

Did a pretty thorough comparison on this about a year ago.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others gate your profile visibility behind a subscription from day one.

Someone in this community recommended Datewander a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I got.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Appreciate the post, this is a fair thing to bring up.
