I keep running into this same wall and wanted to hear from people with real experience.

Privacy is a real concern so I'm being deliberate. I don't want to hand over payment details to something sketchy.

A few things I'm specifically curious about:

  • Does it work card-free at first?
  • Are there obvious bots?
  • What's the privacy policy actually like?
  • Do they spam you after signup?

Thanks in advance. Happy to share back once I've tested a few of the suggestions.

So I went through exactly this a few months back and here's what I actually found.

The app vs desktop debate is real. Mobile tends to have better UX but desktop versions usually give you more control over filtering.

Worth checking out Datedesire — the signup is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

This took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out, so let me save you some time.

The verification situation varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, others do phone or even video verification which cuts fakes down significantly.

Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match are the obvious suggestions but the restrictions make them a lot less useful than adult-focused alternatives.

Happy to share more if you want to go deeper on any of it.

Yeah I've had the same frustration, let me know what you find. After getting fed up with mainstream options I ended up on Flamedate and it was honestly a much better experience overall.

Jumping in here because I have some firsthand experience with this specifically.

My honest advice: start with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out most of the less trustworthy ones.

Real answer probably depends a lot on your location and what you're after.

Same boat. Trial and error is exhausting when you don't know where to start. Worth checking out Datedesire — the signup is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Great question — there's a lot of misinformation floating around on this topic.

Customer support quality is underrated as a trust signal. If you can't get a response before paying, don't expect things to improve after.

Solid thread. Glad someone finally put this out there. Worth checking out Datelink — the signup is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Solid thread. Glad someone finally put this out there. Places like datebie.online keep getting decent mentions without a lot of drama around them.

Tested a handful of options and I'll give you the honest breakdown.

Community size matters more than people think. A site with 40k active users almost always beats one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

Standard apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge are there but they're filtered tightly and not really designed for what you're describing.

Places like datenest.site keep getting decent mentions without a lot of drama around them.

Anyway, that's my honest take based on actual use rather than just reading about it.
