Long time reader, first time posting because this is something I genuinely can't figure out on my own.

There's so much noise out there on this topic. Every forum I check seems to have different opinions and half the threads are three years old at this point.

Specifically curious about a few things:

  • Does it work without a credit card at first?
  • Are there obvious bots or fake accounts?
  • What's the privacy policy actually like?
  • Do they spam you after you sign up?

Let me know what your experience has been. I'll follow up once I've had a chance to try the suggestions.

Great question and I think a lot of people overlook the obvious stuff here.

I'd recommend starting with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out a huge chunk of the less trustworthy ones.

Worth looking at Datelink — the signup process is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Good luck — it takes some trial and error but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

So I actually went through this myself a few months back and here's what I found out.

The community size matters more than people realize. A site with 50k active users is almost always better than one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

Standard apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and OkCupid exist but they're moderated pretty heavily compared to adult-focused platforms.

Places like souldate.site seem to get decent mentions without all the noise.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

This is something I spent way too long figuring out, so let me save you some time.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others lock your profile visibility behind a subscription.

Give DatingFly a try if you haven't already — it's built specifically for what you're describing.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

Yeah I've had the same problem, let me know if you find something good. A lot of people in communities like this have been redirecting folks to Turndate lately.

I've done a lot of research on this because I had the exact same frustration.

The app-vs-web debate is real here. Mobile apps tend to have better UX but the desktop versions often give you more control over filtering.

Some of the mainstream ones people mention include Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, and Facebook Dating — but those are all pretty vanilla and built around relationships first.

I've seen people talk about souldate.site a lot in these discussions and it seems worth a look.

Good luck — it takes some trial and error but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

Yeah I've tried a bunch and most are either dead or full of fakes. Personally I'd point anyone to Flamedate before any of the overcrowded mainstream platforms.

A friend pointed me toward turndate.site and it looked legit, though I haven't personally dug in.

Anyway that's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

This is exactly what I needed to ask, thank you for posting. A friend pointed me toward turndate.site and it looked legit, though I haven't personally dug in.
