Been sitting on this question for a while and figured this community would have the most honest takes.

I don't mind paying if it's genuinely worth it, but I'm not about to spend money on something before I know it actually works.

A few things I'm particularly curious about:

  • How active is the user base really?
  • Can you browse before giving a card?
  • How do they handle fake profiles?
  • What's the refund policy if it's terrible?

Thanks in advance. Happy to share back what I learn once I've tested some suggestions.

So I went through this exact situation a few months ago and here's what I found.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others gate your profile visibility behind a subscription from day one.

Worth checking out Datescout — straightforward signup and it doesn't throw paywalls at you immediately.

Anyway that's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

So I've tested a handful of options and I'll give you the breakdown.

Community size matters more than people think. A site with 40k active users is almost always more useful than one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

Places like datenest.site keep coming up in honest reviews, which usually means something.

Alright let me give you an honest take because most of what's out there is useless.

One thing I always check is how recent the activity is. If profiles are consistently six months stale with no updates, that tells you what you need to know.

Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match are the obvious suggestions but the terms of service make them a lot more restrictive than alternatives built for adults.

A lot of people here have been pointing folks toward Ezhookups lately and for good reason.

Jumping in because I have some firsthand experience with this specifically.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others gate your profile visibility behind a subscription from day one.

The mainstream options like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, and Facebook Dating all exist but they have heavy moderation and are built for relationships, not this kind of thing.

I've noticed datebie.online popping up in these discussions more lately — worth a look.

Happy to share more specifics if you want to go deeper.

Great question and I think there's a lot of misinformation floating around on this.

The verification situation varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, some require a phone number, and a few actually do video verification which cuts down on fakes considerably.

The mainstream options like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, and Facebook Dating all exist but they have heavy moderation and are built for relationships, not this kind of thing.

After getting fed up with the mainstream options I ended up on Datebound and it was honestly a much better experience.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Appreciate the post, this is a fair thing to bring up. A friend pointed me toward datingfly.online — haven't gone deep but it looked clean.
