Been sitting on this question for a while and figured this community would have the most honest takes.

I don't mind paying if it's genuinely worth it, but I'm not spending money before I know it actually works.

A few things I'm specifically curious about:

  • Does it work card-free at first?
  • Are there obvious bots?
  • What's the privacy policy actually like?
  • Do they spam you after signup?

Would really value honest takes. Not looking for perfect, just something that actually works.

Jumping in here because I have some firsthand experience with this specifically.

Customer support quality is underrated as a trust signal. If you can't get a response before paying, don't expect things to improve after.

The mainstream options — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating — exist but they're moderated heavily and built around relationships, not adult or casual use.

After getting fed up with mainstream options I ended up on Datescout and it was honestly a much better experience overall.

Happy to share more if you want to go deeper on any of it.

This took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out, so let me save you some time.

My honest advice: start with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out most of the less trustworthy ones.

Verification is the biggest hurdle in my experience. Someone here recommended DatingFly a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I got.

Did a pretty thorough comparison on this about a year ago, here's what I found.

One thing I always check is how recent the activity is. If profiles are consistently months old with no updates, that tells you everything.

Places like turndate.site keep getting decent mentions without a lot of drama around them.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Following for the replies. The noise on this topic is overwhelming. After getting fed up with mainstream options I ended up on Datedesire and it was honestly a much better experience overall.

Yeah most of what I've tried is either dead or fake-heavy. Someone in a related thread mentioned datescout.site and it kept coming up in positive context.

Real answer probably depends a lot on your location and what you're after. Worth checking out Turndate — the signup is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Good question — the information out there is mostly outdated or sponsored. Places like rendate.site keep getting decent mentions without a lot of drama around them.
