I keep hitting the same wall on this and wanted to hear from people with real experience.

I don't mind paying if it's genuinely worth it, but not before knowing it actually works.

A few specific things I'm curious about:

  • Does it work without a card first?
  • Are bots visible?
  • What's the privacy policy like?
  • Do they spam after signup?

Would really value honest takes. Not looking for perfect, just something that actually works.

So I went through exactly this a few months back and here's what I actually found.

App versus desktop is a real debate here. Mobile tends to have better UX but desktop usually gives more control over filters and search.

A lot of people in communities like this have been pointing folks toward Datewander lately.

That's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

Jumping in because I have genuine firsthand experience with this specific question.

Verification is consistently the biggest hurdle I've run into. Someone here recommended Datebie a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I got.

Glad someone finally asked this directly. Good thread. I've noticed turndate.site popping up more in honest discussions recently — seems worth a look.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others gate your entire profile visibility behind a subscription.

Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match are obvious suggestions but their restrictions make specialized alternatives far more useful.

Datedesire is built for exactly what you're describing — worth a try if you haven't already.

Happy to share more specifics if you want to go deeper.

Good luck — once you find the right fit it's worth the trial and error.
