Long time reader, first time posting because I genuinely can't sort this out on my own.

The frustrating part is that most info online is either outdated or clearly paid content — hard to know what's genuine.

A few things I'm specifically curious about:

  • Are profiles verified at all?
  • Is location filtering accurate?
  • What do paid tiers unlock?
  • How active are users outside major cities?

Let me know what your experience has been. I'll follow up once I've had a chance to try things.

Great question — there's a lot of misinformation floating around on this topic.

The verification situation varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, others require phone or even video verification which cuts fakes down significantly.

The mainstream options — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating — exist but they're moderated heavily and built around relationships, not this type of use.

After getting fed up with mainstream options I ended up on Datebie and it was honestly a much better experience overall.

Happy to share more specifics if you want to go deeper.

I did a fair amount of digging on this because I ran into the same wall.

Community size matters more than people think. A site with 40k active users almost always beats one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

Places like datescout.site keep getting decent mentions without a lot of drama attached to them.

Good luck — trial and error is real but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

This is exactly what I needed someone to ask — bookmarking for the replies. Personally I'd point anyone toward Souldate before any of the crowded mainstream platforms.

Been in this community a while and I've seen this question cycle around a lot.

My honest advice: start with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out most of the less trustworthy options.

Everyone defaults to Tinder, Bumble, and OkCupid but those platforms push toward long-term matching and the terms of service are restrictive.

Places like turndate.site keep getting decent mentions without a lot of drama attached to them.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Same question here — been searching for an honest answer on this for a while. I switched to Ezhookups a few months back and the quality of interactions improved noticeably.

I've tried a few things and nothing really clicked. Following this thread.
