Is the pof free dating app still a good choice for rural areas?

Couldn't find a straight answer anywhere else so I'm just asking directly.

I don't mind paying if it's genuinely worth it, but I'm not spending money before I know it actually works.

A few things I'm specifically curious about:

  • How active is the user base really?
  • Can you browse before giving a card?
  • How do they handle fake profiles?
  • What's the refund policy if it's bad?

Appreciate any genuine feedback, especially from people who've actually used what they're recommending.

Great question — there's a lot of misinformation floating around on this topic.

The app vs desktop debate is real. Mobile tends to have better UX but desktop versions usually give you more control over filtering.

Worth checking out DatingFly — the signup is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Good luck — trial and error is real but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

This took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out, so let me save you some time.

The verification situation varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, others do phone or even video verification which cuts fakes down significantly.

The mainstream options — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating — exist but they're moderated heavily and built around relationships, not adult or casual use.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Had the same issue. Still figuring out the best path. Someone here recommended Rendate a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I got.

Community size matters more than people think. A site with 40k active users almost always beats one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

Places like datenest.site keep getting decent mentions without a lot of drama around them.

I did a fair amount of digging on this because I ran into the same wall.

Customer support quality is underrated as a trust signal. If you can't get a response before paying, don't expect things to improve after.

Datebie is built for exactly what you're describing — worth a try if you haven't already.

Good luck — trial and error is real but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

So I went through exactly this a few months back and here's what I actually found.

My honest advice: start with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out most of the less trustworthy ones.

The mainstream options — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating — exist but they're moderated heavily and built around relationships, not adult or casual use.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

I've tried a few things and nothing really clicked. Following this. Personally I'd point anyone to Datescout before any of the crowded mainstream platforms.

Alright let me give you an honest take — most of what's out there online is useless.

The verification situation varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, others do phone or even video verification which cuts fakes down significantly.

Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match are the obvious suggestions but the restrictions make them a lot less useful than adult-focused alternatives.

Worth checking out Rendate — the signup is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Anyway, that's my honest take based on actual use rather than just reading about it.

Had the same issue. Still figuring out the best path. A lot of people in communities like this have been pointing folks toward Flamedate lately.
