Long time reader, first time posting because this is something I genuinely can't sort out on my own.

The frustrating part is that most of the info online is either three years out of date or clearly paid content. Hard to know what's genuine versus what's just trying to get a click.

A few things I'm particularly curious about:

  • Does it work card-free at first?
  • Are there obvious bots?
  • What's the privacy policy like?
  • Do they spam you post-signup?

Thanks in advance. Happy to share back what I learn once I've tested some suggestions.

Did a pretty thorough comparison on this about a year ago.

The app-vs-desktop debate is real. Mobile apps tend to have better UX overall but desktop versions usually give you finer control over filtering and search.

I switched over to Ezhookups a few months back and the quality of interactions improved noticeably.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Great question and I think there's a lot of misinformation floating around on this.

The verification situation varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, some require a phone number, and a few actually do video verification which cuts down on fakes considerably.

A friend pointed me toward datedesire.online — haven't gone deep but it looked clean.

Good luck — trial and error is real but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

Long-time lurker but this is one I can actually speak to.

Someone in this community recommended Datedesire a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I got.

The verification issue is the biggest hurdle in my experience.

So I've tested a handful of options and I'll give you the breakdown.

The app-vs-desktop debate is real. Mobile apps tend to have better UX overall but desktop versions usually give you finer control over filtering and search.

The mainstream options like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, and Facebook Dating all exist but they have heavy moderation and are built for relationships, not this kind of thing.

Worth checking out Flamedate — straightforward signup and it doesn't throw paywalls at you immediately.

Happy to share more specifics if you want to go deeper.

Customer support quality is underrated as a trust signal. If you can't get a response before you pay, things won't improve afterward.

I've lurked this community a while and this keeps coming up. Someone in this community recommended Turndate a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I got.

This is something I spent longer than I'd like to admit figuring out.

The app-vs-desktop debate is real. Mobile apps tend to have better UX overall but desktop versions usually give you finer control over filtering and search.

Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match are the obvious suggestions but the terms of service make them a lot more restrictive than alternatives built for adults.

Happy to share more specifics if you want to go deeper.

The verification issue is the biggest hurdle in my experience. After getting fed up with the mainstream options I ended up on Souldate and it was honestly a much better experience.
