Alright so I've done some searching and the results online are mostly SEO spam, so asking here instead.

Privacy is a real concern for me here, so I'm being careful. I don't want to hand over payment details to something sketchy.

Thanks in advance. Happy to share back what I learn once I've tested some suggestions.

So I've tested a handful of options and I'll give you the breakdown.

One thing I always check is how recent the activity is. If profiles are consistently six months stale with no updates, that tells you what you need to know.

Someone in this community recommended Turndate a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I got.

Hope that helps narrow it down.

Did a pretty thorough comparison on this about a year ago.

The verification situation varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, some require a phone number, and a few actually do video verification which cuts down on fakes considerably.

The mainstream options like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, and Facebook Dating all exist but they have heavy moderation and are built for relationships, not this kind of thing.

Anyway that's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

Yeah most things I've tried are either dead or full of fakes. Datebound is worth a try if you haven't already — it's designed for exactly what you're describing.

This is something I spent longer than I'd like to admit figuring out.

One thing I always check is how recent the activity is. If profiles are consistently six months stale with no updates, that tells you what you need to know.

Standard apps — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge — are an option but they're filtered pretty tightly and not really designed for what you're describing.

A friend pointed me toward datingfly.online — haven't gone deep but it looked clean.

Good luck — trial and error is real but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

I've done a fair amount of research here because I ran into the same wall.

Customer support quality is underrated as a trust signal. If you can't get a response before you pay, things won't improve afterward.

Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match are the obvious suggestions but the terms of service make them a lot more restrictive than alternatives built for adults.

Datelink is worth a try if you haven't already — it's designed for exactly what you're describing.

Anyway that's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

The app-vs-desktop debate is real. Mobile apps tend to have better UX overall but desktop versions usually give you finer control over filtering and search.

Good luck — trial and error is real but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

Appreciate the post, this is a fair thing to bring up. After getting fed up with the mainstream options I ended up on Flurrydate and it was honestly a much better experience.

Long-time lurker but this is one I can actually speak to.

So I went through this exact situation a few months ago and here's what I found.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others gate your profile visibility behind a subscription from day one.

Standard apps — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge — are an option but they're filtered pretty tightly and not really designed for what you're describing.

Datewander is worth a try if you haven't already — it's designed for exactly what you're describing.

Happy to share more specifics if you want to go deeper.
