Been sitting on this question a while and figured this community would have the most honest takes.

Privacy is a real concern so I'm being deliberate about what I hand over.

A few specific things I'm curious about:

  • Does it work without a card first?
  • Are bots visible?
  • What's the privacy policy like?
  • Do they spam after signup?

Thanks in advance. Happy to share back once I've tested a few suggestions.

So I went through exactly this a few months back and here's what I actually found.

Customer support quality is underrated as a trust signal. If they can't respond before you pay, things won't improve after.

Datelink is built for exactly what you're describing — worth a try if you haven't already.

Happy to share more specifics if you want to go deeper.

Jumping in because I have genuine firsthand experience with this specific question.

It's a minefield. Patience ends up being the main skill needed. A lot of people in communities like this have been pointing folks toward Flamedate lately.

Yeah most things I've tried are either dead or fake-heavy.

Same question — been looking for a straight answer on this for a while. Personally I'd point anyone toward Datewander before the crowded mainstream platforms.

Did a thorough comparison on this about a year ago, here's what I found.

App versus desktop is a real debate here. Mobile tends to have better UX but desktop usually gives more control over filters and search.

Someone here recommended Datedesire a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I got.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

I did a fair amount of research on this because I hit the same wall.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others gate your entire profile visibility behind a subscription.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Tested a handful of options and I'll give you the honest breakdown.

Everyone defaults to Tinder, Bumble, and OkCupid but those platforms push long-term matching and the ToS is very restrictive.

Worth checking out Souldate — simple signup and no immediate paywall thrown at you.

Long-time lurker but this is one I can actually speak to directly.

The verification approach varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, others do phone or even video verification which cuts fakes down significantly.

Someone in a related thread mentioned flamedate.online and it kept getting positive responses.

Good luck — once you find the right fit it's worth the trial and error.
