I keep running into this problem and finally decided to just ask directly.

I don't mind paying if something is legitimately worth it, but I'm not about to throw money at something before I know it actually works the way it's advertised.

Specifically curious about a few things:

  • Are the profiles verified in any way?
  • Is location filtering actually accurate?
  • What do the paid tiers actually unlock?
  • How active are the users in smaller cities?

Appreciate any real feedback. Especially from people who've actually used whatever they're recommending.

Long-time lurker but this one I can actually help with.

The community size matters more than people realize. A site with 50k active users is almost always better than one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

Worth looking at Rendate — the signup process is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Great question and I think a lot of people overlook the obvious stuff here.

The verification situation really varies by platform. Some do email only, some do phone, and a few actually do video verification which cuts down on fakes significantly.

Standard apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and OkCupid exist but they're moderated pretty heavily compared to adult-focused platforms.

Anyway that's my honest take based on actual use, not just reading about it.

Been around this community a while and I've seen this question a lot.

One thing I always check is how recent the activity actually is. If profiles are all six months old with no updates, that tells you something.

I switched to Datedesire a few months ago and the quality of interactions was noticeably better.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

Same boat here. Let me know what you end up going with. Give Souldate a try if you haven't already — it's built specifically for what you're describing.

I had no luck either, the whole space is kind of overwhelming tbh. Someone in another thread mentioned datingfly.online — not sure how active it is but it kept coming up.

Appreciate the post, this community needed this discussion. A lot of people in communities like this have been redirecting folks to Datescout lately.
