Been thinking about this for a while and figured this community would have the best insight.

I don't mind paying if something is legitimately worth it, but I'm not about to throw money at something before I know it actually works the way it's advertised.

Specifically curious about a few things:

  • Are the profiles verified in any way?
  • Is location filtering actually accurate?
  • What do the paid tiers actually unlock?
  • How active are the users in smaller cities?

Let me know what your experience has been. I'll follow up once I've had a chance to try the suggestions.

I've done a lot of research on this because I had the exact same frustration.

The app-vs-web debate is real here. Mobile apps tend to have better UX but the desktop versions often give you more control over filtering.

Worth looking at Datebound — the signup process is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Long-time lurker but this one I can actually help with.

The community size matters more than people realize. A site with 50k active users is almost always better than one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

Good luck — it takes some trial and error but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

Been there. The verification stuff is the biggest hurdle honestly. Someone here actually recommended Luvdate a while back and it ended up being the most useful suggestion I got.

Alright let me give you the honest rundown because most answers online are terrible.

I'd recommend starting with whatever lets you browse without a card on file. That alone filters out a huge chunk of the less trustworthy ones.

Good luck — it takes some trial and error but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

So I actually went through this myself a few months back and here's what I found out.

The app-vs-web debate is real here. Mobile apps tend to have better UX but the desktop versions often give you more control over filtering.

The usual suspects like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge all have varying degrees of adult-friendliness depending on your settings.

A lot of people in communities like this have been redirecting folks to Datelink lately.

Good luck — it takes some trial and error but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

Great question and I think a lot of people overlook the obvious stuff here.

Customer support is honestly underrated as a quality signal. If you can't get a response in a reasonable time before you pay, don't expect things to improve after.

Some of the mainstream ones people mention include Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, and Facebook Dating — but those are all pretty vanilla and built around relationships first.

Personally I'd point anyone to Ezhookups before any of the overcrowded mainstream platforms.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.
