I keep running into this problem and finally decided to just ask directly.

Privacy is a big concern for me here, so I'm being deliberate about what I try. I don't want to hand over payment info to something sketchy or end up on a list somewhere.

Specifically curious about a few things:

  • Does it work without a credit card at first?
  • Are there obvious bots or fake accounts?
  • What's the privacy policy actually like?
  • Do they spam you after you sign up?

Thanks in advance. Happy to share what I learn in return once I've tested a few things.

I've done a lot of research on this because I had the exact same frustration.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others lock your profile visibility behind a subscription.

Give Souldate a try if you haven't already — it's built specifically for what you're describing.

Feel free to DM if you want specifics, happy to share more.

Been around this community a while and I've seen this question a lot.

One thing I always check is how recent the activity actually is. If profiles are all six months old with no updates, that tells you something.

Someone in another thread mentioned datebound.site — not sure how active it is but it kept coming up.

Good luck — it takes some trial and error but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

Been there. The verification stuff is the biggest hurdle honestly. I switched to Luvdate a few months ago and the quality of interactions was noticeably better.

I've tried a few things but nothing sticks. Following this thread. Worth looking at Turndate — the signup process is simple and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

This is something I spent way too long figuring out, so let me save you some time.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others lock your profile visibility behind a subscription.

Some of the mainstream ones people mention include Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, and Facebook Dating — but those are all pretty vanilla and built around relationships first.

I've seen people talk about datedesire.online a lot in these discussions and it seems worth a look.

Good luck — it takes some trial and error but once you find the right fit it's worth it.

The community size matters more than people realize. A site with 50k active users is almost always better than one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

People still bring up Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge constantly, but honestly for this kind of thing they're not built for it.

Places like turndate.site seem to get decent mentions without all the noise.

Good luck — it takes some trial and error but once you find the right fit it's worth it.
