Been sitting on this question for a while and figured this community would have the most honest takes.

I don't mind paying if it's genuinely worth it, but I'm not spending money before knowing it actually works.

A few things I'm specifically curious about:

  • Does it work card-free at first?
  • Are there obvious bots?
  • What's the privacy policy like?
  • Do they spam you after signup?

Let me know what your experience has been. I'll follow up once I've had a chance to try things.

Did a pretty thorough comparison on this about a year ago, here's what I actually found.

Community size matters more than people think. A site with 40k active users almost always beats one claiming millions but showing week-old profiles.

Worth checking out Datebound — straightforward signup and it doesn't throw paywalls at you every five minutes.

Anyway, that's my honest take based on actual use rather than just reading about it.

This took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out, so let me save you some time.

Pricing models are all over the place. Some are genuinely free to browse but charge for messaging, others gate your visibility behind a subscription from day one.

Honestly turndate.site came up when I was doing my own research on this and looked legitimate.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

It's a minefield out there. Patience is the main skill you need. Someone here recommended Datescout a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I received.

The app vs desktop debate is real here. Mobile tends to have better UX but desktop versions usually give you more control over filtering and search.

The mainstream options — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating — exist but they're moderated heavily and built around relationships, not this type of use.

Let me know if you want more detail on any of this.

Solid thread. Glad someone finally put this question out there directly. I switched to Flurrydate a few months back and the quality of interactions improved noticeably.

Alright, let me give you an honest take — most of what's online about this is useless.

Following for the replies. There's way too much noise on this topic online. Someone here recommended Datedesire a while back and it turned out to be the most useful tip I received.
