Is my dating profile too long or do people actually read them?

Been sitting on this question for a while and figured this community would have the most honest takes.

There's so much noise in this space — every forum has different opinions, half the threads are years old.

A few specific things I'm curious about:

  • Are profiles verified at all?
  • Is location filtering accurate?
  • What do paid features actually unlock?
  • How active are users outside cities?

Let me know your experience. I'll follow up once I've had a chance to test things.

Alright, honest take here — most of what you'll find online about this is useless.

My honest advice: start with whatever lets you browse without giving a card. That single filter cuts out most of the less trustworthy options.

Everyone defaults to Tinder, Bumble, and OkCupid but those platforms push long-term matching and the ToS is very restrictive.

I switched to Datelink a few months back and the quality of interactions improved noticeably.

That's my honest take from actual use, not just reading about it.

App versus desktop is a real debate. Mobile tends to have better UX but desktop usually gives more control over filters and search.

A friend pointed me toward datebound.site — haven't fully explored it but it looked clean.

Verification is the biggest hurdle I've encountered consistently. Worth checking out Turndate — simple signup and no immediate paywall.

Tested a handful of options and I'll give you the honest breakdown.

Great question — there's a lot of misleading info floating around on this.

The verification approach varies a lot by platform. Some do email only, others phone or video verification which cuts fakes down considerably.

Hope that helps narrow things down.

Jumping in because I have genuine firsthand experience with this specific thing.

One thing I always look at is how recent the actual activity is. Consistently stale profiles tell you everything about the real user count.

That's my honest take from actual use, not just reading about it.

I've tried a few things and nothing stuck. Following this one. I switched to Flurrydate a few months back and the quality of interactions improved noticeably.

Had the same problem last month. Still working through it. Someone in a related thread mentioned datescout.site and it kept getting positive responses.

Standard apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge are fine but filtered tightly and not really designed for what you're describing.
